Tuning


This section contains information describing how to use the Oracle Net8 Assistant to tune Names Servers for better performance.

Cache Checkpoint Interval

Enter a time value in the Cache Checkpoint Interval field provided to specify the time interval at which a Names Server will write a copy of its stored data to a checkpoint file. This will protect against any startup failures.

Statistics Reset Interval

Enter a time value in the Statistics Reset Interval field provided to specify the time during which statistics collected by a Names Server will accumulate. The default value of 0 will cause statistics not to reset.

Statistics Log Interval

Enter a time value in the Statistics Log Interval field provided to specify the time between statistical dumps to the log file. The default value of 0 will disable logging.

Auto Refresh Retry Interval

Enter a time value in the Auto Refresh Retry Interval field provided to specify the time interval after which a Names Server will try again to refresh its cache when the auto refresh query fails. The auto refresh retry interval is set to 180 seconds by default.

Auto Refresh Expiration Period

Enter a time value in the Auto Refresh Expiration Period field provided to specify the time interval that a Names Server waits before issuing a query to other database servers in the same region to refresh its address information. The auto refresh expiration period is set to 600 seconds by default.
